PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a retrieval party to easily arrive at its desired image quickly by storing each keyword given to image data in cross-reference with its importance, retrieving a keyword corresponding to a retrieval object and rearranging retrieval results on the basis of the importance. SOLUTION: A secondary storage device 6 stores images, keywords and importance information given to the images and image data or the like. The importance of a keyword catching a theme of an image is set higher and the importance of a keyword with low importance not catching the theme but displayed in the image as an object is set lower. A CPU 1 retrieves a keyword table and extracts a corresponding record. The importance of the keyword with respect to the images is used for priority and the images are rearranged according to the priority.
