Sludge (9) is fed into a vessel (11) and then a suction tube containing a filter insert is lowered into it in order to remove liquid to a given depth to leave behind a sediment inside the vessel. Handling filter sludge obtained by filtering a liquid (e.g. a cutting, grinding or polishing fluid) containing particles, comprises transporting the sludge upwards into a vessel and lowering a suction tube containing a filter insert into the sludge. Liquid is removed to the level (h) of the suction tube, leaving a sediment containing a higher concentration of particles than the sludge. The suction tube is then removed from the sediment in an upwards direction. An Independent claim is also included for the process apparatus, comprising a vessel with an upper opening for the suction tube, the bottom end of which is provided with a plate for stopping the tube when it comes into contact with the vessel base or sediment. |
