PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact detector capable of constituting a highly reliable collision-preventing safety device by embedding fail-safe constitution. SOLUTION: A flexible strain sensor 2 for outputting a signal, in response to elongation is connected to an inner face side of a plate spring 3, formed curvedly into a ring shape in a condition imparted preliminarily with a prescribed tension. A detection signal for showing normality is output in a detection circuit 5, when a signal from the flexible strain sensor 2 exists within a prescribed range set by an upper limit value and a lower limit value and including a signal output, in the elongation of the sensor 2 in the prescribed tension. This contact detector is mounted on a moving body to direct an outer face 3f of a curved protrusion toward the advancing direction.
