PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time from arriving of the broadcasting material to the start of the recording and to record a suddenly happening broadcasting material without any trouble by consecutively executing the designating operation of a material length and recording operation in response to a GUI operation to automate setting work of the material length, etc., at the time of recording. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a designating means for designating the material length of an inputted broadcasting material, a recording means for recording the inputted broadcasting material in a data storing means and an execution control means for controlling the designating means and the recording means in response to a prescribed GUI operation and consecutively executing the designating operation of the material length and recording operation. For example, a video server system 1 consists of an intra-station sub-system 100, an operation sub-system 200, a data sub-system 300, a large capacity storage sub-system 400 (data storing means), etc. The system 200 is provided with personal computers 201 to 205 with a general purpose OS installed. Then, in the recording work of this system 1, the broadcasting material is stored in the sub-system 400.
