PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a developing device where back ground soiling and unevenness in image density due to attachment of carrier generated by aggregation of toner or excessive feeding of the toner can be prevented by carrying out agitation of the toner in the developing device provided with a toner concentration self control mechanism before starting of toner replenishing. SOLUTION: In this device, driving of a toner agitator 9 as the toner agitating member is started for warming up after a power source of the device is turned on and returning to operation from a standby state of the device but the drive is stopped while the toner is replenished. Thus, the toner with good fluidity is in a state of contact with the developer even without carrying out agitation by a toner agitator when developing is carried out and the toner is fetched into the developer with its own weight and fluidity. Therefore, a flexible toner replenishment corresponding to consumed quantity of the toner is carried out. |
