PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make preparable a high-quality index print where the discrimination of the contents of a picture, for example, a main subject such as a human figure is easily performed and which has a high added value by performing the processing of a picture reproduced on the index print on a picture processing condition different from the corresponding picture of a main print. SOLUTION: A scanner 12 reads the picture exposed on film and outputs a digital signal to a picture processing device 14. The device 14 analyzes picture data, sets the picture processing condition, and performs the processing of the picture according to the set picture processing condition, then prepares the main print where the picture is reproduced and the index print where the plural pictures of the main print are reproduced on one print. At least one picture reproduced on the index print is processed on the picture processing condition different from the corresponding picture of the main print. For example, the difference of sharpness and contrast between the main subject and a background is made larger on the index print than on the main print. |
