PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make compatible resolution increase and gradation increase, to suit output characteristics to visual characteristics and to further improve the picture quality of an output image by forming a density gradation image from the pixels of plural densities having almost the fixed lightness difference and area on a recording medium. SOLUTION: In a density gradation expression, since the density corresponding to an image signal can be expressed for each pixel, it is easy to make one pixel small and to improve the resolution and the picture quality can be improved by sufficiently reducing the coarseness feelings. Therefore, the pixel density required for providing the same resolution as an area gradation system can be reduced almost by half and it is desired to make the density higher than 300 dpi, for example. In this case, the area for one pixel is uniformly expressed with the same density but when the area for one pixel is equal, the area can be formed into dot as well. In order to form the area for one pixel with the uniform density like this way, a continuos application system is suitable. |
