METHOD FOR FILE MANAGEMENT OF FILE SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file managing method for a file system which holds management information in data blocks and has a file system structure that can perform self-restoration even while the system operates when a discrepancy takes place in data. SOLUTION: Data blocks 12 which holds data and has the management information of data blocks such as a reference destination and a reference source and management blocks 14 managing the states of the blocks 12 with bitmaps are provided on a magnetic disk 10. A management block 14 has a use situation management area 16 where information on whether or not a managed data block 12 is currently used is stored, a transitional situation management area 18 where information on whether or not the block 12 is during transition (maintaining or releasing) is stored and a continuous extension situation management area 20 where information on whether or not the block 12 is secured as one continuous data block is stored.
