PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide peripheral cell search control so as not to increase the cost of an entire system by decreasing power consumption and time required for cell search by a mobile station. SOLUTION: In the method for controlling peripheral cell search in a mobile station (602) in a direct spread CDMA mobile communication system that uses a 1st spread code group whose repetition period is the same as an information symbol period and used in common by each base station and a 2nd spread code whose repetition period is longer than the information symbol period and different for each base station so as to transmit information through double spread, a 1st table storing a 2nd spread code and a phase corresponding to one or two or more perch channel whose 2nd spread code and phase are known and a 2nd table storing a 2nd spread code used by peripheral base stations are stored, a perch channel whose 2nd spread code and phase are unknown is searched and a perch channel whose 2nd spread code and phase are known is searched.
