PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise. SOLUTION: A digital CCD camera consists of an imager 1 for picking up an image, a signal amplifier circuit 2 for amplifying the signal component of an analog video signal from the imager 1, an analog/digital converter 3 for converting the analog video signal component amplified by the circuit 2a to the digital signal, a digital signal processing circuit 4 for processing the digital signal and controlling the imager 1, the circuit 2 and the converter 3 to output a color difference signal and a luminance signal, a control signal 6 for executing the analog automatic gain control of the circuit 2, the digital automatic gain control of the circuit 4 and the control of an electronic shutter, and a luminance/ color signal mixing circuit 5 for mixing the color difference signal and the luminance signal to output a video signal. The circuit 6 is capable of converting the data area of iris control to a prescribed area division when the analog automatic gain control operates.
