PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the size and thickness of a display device by using a space as much as possible which is left as not used in a display device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with a liquid crystal panel and a back light 40 which emits light to the liquid crystal panel. The back light 40 consists of a light guide plate 44 and fluorescent tube 50 disposed along one end face 45 of the light guide plate 44, and inverter 48 to supply electric power to the fluorescent tube 50. The light guide plate 44 has a wedge like cross section having the thickness decreasing with the distance from the fluorescent tube 50. The inverter 48 is disposed on the back face of the region where the light guide plate 44 is thin. |
