PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input/output processing unit that an keep its functions satisfactory at all times. SOLUTION: Information of the image input/output processing unit is set to a function information management section (S1). A communication means is set to a management server for communication therewith (S2). Information on each function and each model with respect to its own unit is acquired from the management server, at start and periodically (S3). The information acquired from the management server is given to a corresponding management section (S4). Each management section discriminates whether there is information to be given to a user, on the basis of the information acquired from the management server and the information having managed up to that moment (S5). The management section which has discriminated that there is information to be informed ('YES' in S6) sends out a notice request to a notice means management section 4 (S7). A communication management section 6 informs the user of the information on the basis of a means set in advance by the user (S8).
