Porous building materials or components are sealed using a low viscosity material which penetrates pores and forms a pore-filling material by chemical reaction. Preferred Features: The material swells in the presence of water after setting to close any residual pore spaces, mixes or chemically reacts with water in the pores during setting to cause water removal and/or exhibits hydrophobic setting properties to prevent water transport in the pore system.
