The injection valve has a valve body (5) with an axial bore (3) for accommodating an axially sliding valve element (1) with a sealing surface on one end that interacts with a valve seat surface to control an injection opening cross-section. The valve body (5) is shaped near a guide surface (25) for the valve element so that the guide surface only contacts the valve element surface uniformly and flat when clamping and working forces are applied to the valve when fitted in the engine. An Independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a guide bore for a valve element.
