<p>The invention relates to a gas sensor for determining reducing gases in a gas mixture, especially of HC and/or CO in the waste gases of μ controlled combustion systems. Said sensor has a multi-layer structure that contains an electrochemical solid-state chain in the form of a potentiometric and/or an amperometric measuring element with a pump cell. The multi-layer structure chosen for the inventive gas sensor comprises a layer of oxygen-absorbing material that delivers oxygen to the measuring cell when μ < 1 and that absorbs and accumulates oxygen when μ ≥ 1. The inventive sensor allows the use of pump cells with a low pumping capacity. The invention also provides a compact device that allows a precise measurement of reducing gases also in the range of the stoichiometric air/fuel ratio μ, with μ ranging between 0.9 and 1.6, even if no pump cell at all is used.</p> |
