PURPOSE: An error correction method is provided to eliminate consumption time according to unnecessary execution of error correction and speed exchange by making an error correction performed by an optimized frequency of error correction stored previously. CONSTITUTION: An error correction method comprises the steps of: correcting an error of a signal reproduced from an optical disk in a predetermined frequency of error correction, based on a predetermined value of a test execution frequency according to a present reproducing speed of the inserted and mounted optical disk(S21); confirming whether the error of the signal is corrected(S30); if the error of the signal is corrected, reducing the predetermined frequency of error correction(S31); and if the reduced value is a minimum value of the frequency of error correction, determining the reduced value as an optimized frequency of error correction according to the reproduce speed(S42).
