1390708 Organolithium polymerization of dienes FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER CO 19 July 1973 [25 July 1972] 34544/73 Heading C3P A conjugated diene is polymerized in the presence of (a) a hydrocarbyl lithium compound, (b) a secondary alkyl chloride and (c) a divinyl aryl compound, in limited amounts. The dienes may be copolymerized with the usual alkenyl aromatic monomers. In examples, butadiene or isoprene are polymerized in the presence of (a) C 4 H 9 Li, C 6 H 13 Li, C 5 H 11 Li, or C 5 H 17 Li (b) sec-C 4 H 9 Cl, sec-C 5 H 11 Cl or i-C 3 H 7 Cl, and (c) divinyl benzene, 1,4-divinyl naphthalene, divinyl-toluene or 4,4<SP>1</SP>-divinyl diphenyl. |
