FLUORINATION AGENT, PRODUCTION AND USE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fluorinating agent that is easy to handle, can manifest the same fluorination effect as that of hydrogen fluoride by adding hydrogen fluoride to a compound that is liquid under the standard conditions and boils at a temperature higher than a specific one. SOLUTION: The objective hydrogen fluoride-containing composition comprises (A) a compound that is liquid under the standard conditions (25 deg.C, 1 atmospheric pressure), boils at a temperature >=120 deg.C and has a pKa of >=12 at 25 deg.C and (B) hydrogen fluoride. In this composition, the molar number of the component B is >=7 based on 1 mole of the component A. As a component A, are preferably cited the compounds of formula I (R1-R4 are each an alkyl or the like). In one embodiment, a heterocyclic aromatic compound of formula II (R16 is H or a 1-4C lower alkyl) is allowed to react with the fluorination agent whereby a fluorine-containing heterpcyclic aromatic compound is produced. The amount of the fluorinating agent is preferably 2-10 equivalents calculated as hydrogen fluoride based on one halogen atom to be substituted.
