PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently display such effects as odor-absorbing property, moisture-absorbing property, insect-prevention property, and antifungal property by using a building material such as a wall material or a door plate material to which a plurality of pieces of charcoal are fitted or stuck on the surface. SOLUTION: A building material to the surface of which a plurality of pieces of charcoal are fitted or stuck is used for a wall such as an earthen wall 3a, a concrete wall, a mortar wall, etc., and a ceiling plate or the like. It is preferable that bamboo charcoal 2a and charcoal 2b, 2b or black charcoal and white charcoal are combinedly fitted or struck thereto in a regular pattern. The number of pieces of charcoal 2 fitted or stuck thereto is adjusted to regulate the total area. In this way, effects of odor-absorbing property, adsorptive force, moisture-absorbing property, insect-prevention property, and antifungal property, etc., are sufficiently displayed.
