PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel pressure-sensitive adhesive having improved peeling strength and tackiness. SOLUTION: An aqueous composition suitable for using as a pressure-sensitive adhesive when dried, comprises an aqueous emulsified polymer which is formed by free-radically polymerizing at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer at a reaction temperature lower than 100 deg.C in the presence of an N-oxyl radical in an amount of 20-1,500 ppm based on the whole weight of monomers and which contains a polymer having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of from -80 deg.C to 0 deg.C.
