PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a partially plated plastic molding capable of sharply displaying letters, figures, symbols or the like on the display part of a plastic molding such as a base molding material to be enriched in decorativeness. SOLUTION: A base molding material is molded by using an electroless metallic plating resin, the base molding material is dipped into an etching soln. for roughening treatment to subject the outer circumferential face thereof to roughening treatment, the base molding material subjected to the roughening treatment is dipped into an electroless catalyst soln. to provide a catalyst primer layer on the roughened outer circumferential face, the display part of the base molding material is subjected to laser working to eliminate the catalyst primer layer so that it can display specified letters or figures or patterns, and the surface of the catalyst primer layer other than the display part is applied with electroless metallic plating.
