PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing martensitic stainless steel excellent in corrosion resistance in an environment contg. humid carbon dioxide or the like and weldability such as hardness and toughness in the heat-affected zone and moreover having excellent tube producibility as the one for a weld tube stock. SOLUTION: A stage in which a slab contg., by weight, >0.005 to 0.03% C, >0.008 to 0.03% N, 10 to 14% Cr, <=4% Ni, <=0.5% Mo and <=0.1% Ti is hot-rolled and is thereafter made into a hot rolled coil at a coiling temp. (T deg.C) satisfying 700<=T<-23t+1013 where (t): hot rolling finish sheet thickness (mm)}, and moreover, tempering and two phase region heating are individually or combinedly executed in acordance with required tube producibility or a stage in which skinpass rolling is executed after the tempering is performed.
