PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new steric structure of decarbamylase which comprises a decarbamylase crystal containing an orthorhombic specific space group and a specific amino acid sequence and is useful in the design or the like of a mutant participating in an improvement in enzyme thermostability, resistance to organic solvents, oxidation resistance, specific activity or the like. SOLUTION: This decarbamylase crystal is a new decarbamylase crystal containing orthorhombic space group P212121 and the amino acid sequence represented by formula I or orthorhombic space group P212121 and the amino acid sequence represented by formula II and is useful in the design or the like of mutation in amino acids participating in the thermostability of decarbamylase, the resistance to organic solvents, the safety, e.g. resistance or the like against air oxidation, the alternation of optimum pH in enzyme reactions and the improvement in specific activity. This decarbamylase crystal is obtained by preparing a decarbamylase solution in a concentration of 1-50 mg/ml, adding a precipitant solution which contains a polyethylene glycol or the like in a proportion of 5-30 wt.% and includes a buffer for adjusting pH to 6.0-9.0 and standing the resultant mixed solution until the crystal grows beyond an established size. |
