PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an object from falling out of an opening between the sash lower rail and the window lower frame when a window is opened, in a tip-hinged swinging window, a sliding-out window, and a horizontal pivoted window. SOLUTION: This device for preventing an object from falling when a window is opened is formed so that, in an openable window whose sash lower rail 7 comes into contact with or away from a window lower frame 3 keeping themselves in parallel with each other for opening or closing an opening between the sash lower rail and the window lower frame 3 when a sash 5 is opened or closed, a foldable and extendable shielding plate 11 having a bellow shape is jointed between the sash lower rail 7 and the window lower frame 3 and, when the sash lower rail 7 comes away from the window lower frame for opening the sash 5, the shielding plate 11 is extended to shield the opening between the sash lower rail and the window lower frame 3 or, when the sash lower rail 7 comes closer to the window lower frame 3 for closing the sash, the shielding plate 11 is folded.
