PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the improvement of the yield of products, the prevention of the occurrence of equipment trouble, securement of the safety of workers and also to automate the preparatory work for connecting the end parts of the steel strips by surely preventing the meandering, waving or the like of a steel strip at the time of conveying the terminal part of the steel strip. SOLUTION: Two steel-strip supplying routes 1, 2 are provided on the inlet side of a conveying/processing line for the steel strips A, B such as a metallic hoop material. When the remaining amount of the steel strip A which is supplied from either of the two steel strip supplying routes 1, 2 is reduced, at the time of cutting the steel strip A, the steel strip A is clamped with a pinch roll 5 between the welding position of the steel strip A, B and a bridle roll 4a and, after cutting the steel strip A, when the terminal part of the steel strip A is conveyed with the bridle roll 4a, by imparting force to the pinch roll 5 with a motor brake 6 in the inverse direction D of the feeding direction C of the steel strip A and applying tension to the steel strip A, the steel strip is made to run in the state of mendering prevention and, after that, the steel strips A, B are welded.
