PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the dewatering effect of a washing machine by providing a water absorbing member having a function which absorbs water at a temperature below a predetermined temperature and releases the absorbed water at a temperature above the predetermined temperature on the inner wall surface of a spinning tub, and providing a heating means to heat this water absorbing member to a temperature above a predetermined temperature. SOLUTION: Plural water absorbing members 15 are provided in longitudinal and lateral directions on the inner wall surface of a spinning tub 10 at least the shell of which is magnetic stainless steel. The water absorbing member 15 comprises a container bag 15a consisting of hydrophilic cloth such as cotton and linen and a water absorbing polymer resin 15b such as particulate poly-N- isopropyl acrylamide and polyvinyl methyl ether both of which are contained in the bag 15a by appropriate amounts. Such a water absorbing member 15 enhances the dewatering performance of clothes by absorbing water at a temperature below a predetermined temperature, and acts to release absorbed water at a temperature above the predetermined temperature. An induction heating coil 16 is provided at a predetermined position of the outer wall part of a water receiving tank 8 to heat up above a predetermined temperature.
