PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bridge expansion device having comparatively simple structure excellent in maintainability capable of dealing with displacement at right angles to the bridge axis. SOLUTION: A bridge expansion device is equipped with a plurality of middle beams 12, 14, 16 and 18 extending parallel to each other in the direction at right angles to the bridge axis and directly receiving wheel load and a plurality of support beams 40 extended to each other in the direction of the bridge axis at a specific interval. Then, the middle beams are borne on the above of the support beams 40 through upper side bearings 32, 34, 36 and 38, one end of each of the support beams 40 is fixed to a box on the side of abutment through lower side bearings 42, 52, 64 and 66, and the other end of each of the support beams is mounted on the lower side bearings arranged to boxes 20 and 22 on the side of a floor slab in a slidable manner. Shafts 48, 58, 60 and 62 pass through a hole bored in the central part of the upper side bearings, an opening bored in the central part of the support beams 40 and a hole bored in the central part of the lower side bearings to extend in the vertical direction, a diameter of each of the shafts is so selected that it is smaller than those diameters of the hole in the upper side bearings, opening in the support beams and the hole in the lower side bearings, and.the shafts adjoining the one end of each of the support beams to locate them thereon are fixed to the support beams.
