PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alternative coolant to R22 and R502 which coolant forms an azeotropic composition and has an excellent cooling property by mixing propylene, 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane and/or 1,1-difluoroethane. SOLUTION: A mixed coolant for a refrigeration cycle device is obtained by blending propylene (R1270), not more than 50 wt.% of 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (R134a) and/or not more than 30 wt.% of 1,1-difluoroethane (R152a). This mixed coolant can be dealt as an azeotropic mixed composition. Because this mixed coolant contains much R1270, which has a small coolant density, the amount of the coolant for filling can be almost halved. A detrimental effect on the stratosphere ozone layer can be avoided with this mixed coolant and the effect on the global warming also can be drastically reduced. A azeotropic mixed coolant with a reduced risk of combustibility is obtained by blending pentafluoroethane (R125) with R1270, not more than 50 wt.% of R134a and/or not more than 30 wt.% R152a.
