PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a decubitus ulcer by interposing a pad between one surface of a mattress and the back of the upper body of a user and thereby making it follow the rising and lying of the upper body. SOLUTION: A pad 22 provided with a lubricated face on the rising and lying portion 20 of a mattress with the lubricated face is mounted in contact with the rising and lying portion 20 of the mattress. The upper and lower ends of the pad 22 are connected by a pair of strips 30, and the longitudinal direction of the rising and lying portion 20 of the mattress is supported by the pad 22 and the strips 30 as if to embrace. The strips 30 are passed through a roller 24 at the forward end of the rising and lying portion 20. When the rising and lying portion 20 of the mattress is moved in the direction of an arrow by a reclining mechanism 16 with the back of the upper body of a user remaining on the pad 22, sliding between the lubricated face of the pad 22 and the rising and lying portion 20 of the mattress makes the pad 22 follow the movement of the upper body of the user. Therefore, the pad 22 does not crease and prevents pressure from being applied to the back of a user.
