PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition as a molding raw material, for a sealant which maintains designated values of the tensile strength, elongation and permanent compression set even when used at high temperatures and besides exhibits little deterioration of the rubber and little elution from the rubber, and hence can be suitably used particularly for a gasket of a plate-type heat exchanger used in the food industry. SOLUTION: A rubber composition for sealants which composition contains a rubber and a carbon black and is to be crosslinked with a peroxide, comprise 100 pts.wt. of a rubber, preferably an ethylene/propylene rubber, 50-100 pts.wt. of a carbon black, preferably having a secondary particle diameter of 25-60 nm, and 0.5-3.0 pts.wt. of a titanate-based coupling agent.
