PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation membrane for separation and excellent in removal of protein not only of a low molecular weight but also of a middle molecular weight (5,000 or higher) and scarcely changed with the lapse of time. SOLUTION: The screening efficiency of lysozyme is controlled to be 0.3 or higher in the case the efficiency is measured by passing a phosphoric acid- balanced saline buffer solution containing 0.1% of lysozyme at the flow rate of 15 ml/min and carrying out the measurement 15 minutes later and the ratio (the screening efficiency of lysozyme measured 5 hours later)/(the screening efficiency of lysozyme measured 15 minutes later) of the screening efficiency of lysozyme measured 5 hours later to the screening efficiency of lysozyme measured 15 minutes later is controlled to be 0.8 or higher.
