PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition which is excellent in processability, is capable of forming a film having excellent flavor retentivity and is free from the elution of bisphenol A out of the film. SOLUTION: The coating composition comprises (A) a carboxyl group- containing polyester resin having a number average molecular weight of 1,000 to 20,000 and an acid value of 5 to 170 mgKOH/g, (B) a novolac-type epoxy resin, and (C) a curing catalyst, wherein a compounding ratio between the polyester resin (A) and the epoxy resin (B) is such that the former/the latter = 0.5 to 2.0 in terms of an equivalent ratio between the carboxyl group in the resin (A) and the epoxy group in the resin (B), and a compounding ratio of the curing catalyst (C) ranges from 0.05 to 1.0 pt.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the total of the resin (A) and the resin (B). A method for coating an inner surface of a can comprises coating the coating composition onto an inner surface of a molded can and baking the composition to form a film having a dry thickness of about 2 to 20μm on the inner surface of the can.
