PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving force distribution controller for a four-wheel drive vehicle that can improve running stability and steering feeling by virtue of fine control on the engaging force of a torque distributing clutch in accordance with running conditions. SOLUTION: A CPU computes in S14 a rotational speed differenceΔN between the input rotational speed N1 and output rotational speed N2 of a coupling, and vehicle accelerationαas well. If the rotational speed differenceΔN is positive or S16 is acceptable, and the accelerationαis smaller than a set valueα1 or S18 is unacceptable, a tight mode map is referred to in S20. Accelerationαnot smaller than the set valueα1 or proving S18 acceptable causes the procedure to refer to an acceleration mode map in S22. A negative rotational speed differenceΔN proving S16 unacceptable selects a reverse mode map to refer to in S24. The engaging force T that corresponds to the rotational speed differenceΔN is derived from each map, whereupon a control signal having the voltage value that corresponds to the derived engaging force T is output to the coupling in S26.
