PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer in which the printing time can be shortened while reducing the size and manufacturing cost, and a bankbook printing system comprising that printer. SOLUTION: The bankbook printing system comprises a print section 20 provided with a single thermal head 23 for printing on the inner surface of one cover 4 of a bankbook 1 with black ink and the adhering surface 5a of second film with fluorescent ink. An ink ribbon 21 has a black area, a fluorescent area, and a transparent area along the traveling direction and a mark for detecting the black area or fluorescent area is put on the transparent area. When the inner surface of the cover 4 is printed with black ink, the area detection mark is detected through an area sensor 52 and the black area is faced against the thermal head 23 while the forward end of the cover 4 is faced against the head 23.
