PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the working burden on an operator by providing the subject device with a control means for suspending the take-out of paper sheets in accordance with the judgment that a prescribed number of sheets stored in a memory means is attained by sorting and accumulating the paper sheets to a sorting destination of the paper sheets at the point of the time when this sorting destination of the paper sheets is discriminated by a discriminating means. SOLUTION: At the point of the time when a sorting pocket 22 which is the sorting destination of the paper sheets is discriminated in a discrimination section, the number of accumulation sheets of the paper sheets to the sorting pocket 22 is added to update the number of accumulation sheets which is stored in the memory. Whether or not the number of accumulation sheets attains the prescribed number of sheets is examined and the paper sheets are sorted and accumulated to the prescribed sorting pocket 22 on condition that the prescribed number of sheets is not attained. Namely, whether or not the sorting pocket 22 of the sorting destinations attains the prescribed number of sheets is judged every time the discrimination section discriminates the sorting destination of the paper sheets. The attainment of the prescribed quantity is displayed via a display section of the sorting pocket 22 with which the attainment of the prescribed quantity is detected. At the point of this time, the take-out of the paper sheets by a supply and take-out section 2 is suspended.
