PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost by making parts in common and to hold a relationship between a feed per stroke and a scale of a feed adjusting dial always constant. SOLUTION: This feeder comprises a needle feeding mechanism 89 arranged in a sewing machine arm 62, a needle feeding driving shaft 77 for imparting driving force to the needle feeding mechanism 89, a needle feeding driving force transmission mechanism 90 for converting the rotation of an upper shaft 60 into oscillation which is transmitted to the needle feeding driving shaft 77 via a connecting arm 76 fixed to the needle feeding driving shaft 77, a feeding lever 74 connected to the needle feeding driving force transmission mechanism 90 for changing the direction of feeding, a lower feeding mechanism 86 arranged on a sewing machine bed 55, a lower feeding driving shaft 59 forth imparting driving force to the lower feeding mechanism 86, and a lower feeding driving force transmission mechanism 87 for transmitting the oscillation of the connecting arm 76 to the lower feeding driving shaft 59.
