PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a space-saving type fuel oil cleaning apparatus constituted so as to easily treat separated and discharged sludge. SOLUTION: A fuel oil cleaning apparatus has a first tank 1 for receiving fuel, a first cleaner 4 for circulating the fuel of the first tank 1 to separate sludge, a second tank 2 receiving fuel from the first tank 1, a second cleaner 10 for separating sludge from the fuel of the first tank 1 to send the same in the second tank 2 and a bypass pipeline connecting the first and second tanks. The cleaners, filters and various valves are arranged to the stand formed so as to cover the tanks. Since one cleaner is operated even if the other cleaner gets out of order, cleaned fuel can be always supplied to an engine to enable continuous operation. Since two cleaners are always operated, the cleaning effect of fuel oil is enhanced. Because of a two-layer separation type, the treatment of separated and discharged sludge is easy. Since machineries such as the cleaners 4, 10 or the like an be arranged on the stand disposed above the tanks, an arranging space can be reduced.
