PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a galvanized steel sheet suitable for a heat shrink band and to provide a method for producing it. SOLUTION: This galvanized steel sheet for a heat shrink band is obtd., on the surface of a galvanized steel sheet in which the surface of a steel sheet contg., by weight, <=0.005% C, <=1% Si, 0.1 to 2.0% Mn, <=0.15% P, <=0.02% S, <=0.08% sol.Al, <=0.005% N, 0.02 to 0.06% Ti and 0.0003 to 0.005% B is subjected to galvanizing, and the product between magnetic permeabilityμand sheet thickness in the magnetic field of 0.3Oe in a state after shrink fit is >=350, by forming an inorganic film of 0.1 to 3 g/m2 expressed in terms of SiO2. The above steel sheet is obtd. by applying the surface of a steel sheet obtd. by executing cold rolling after hot rolling and then executing annealing in a temp. region of 800 to 900 deg.C or moreover executing skinpass rolling of <=0.5% rolling ratio after the annealing with galvanizing and furthermore forming an inorganic film of 0.1 to 3 g/m2 expressed in terms of SiO2 on the surface.
