PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the crystal of a benzimidazole compound having an antiulcer action. SOLUTION: The crystal of (S)-2- [[3-methyl-4-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)-2- pyridinyl]methyl]sulfinyl}-1H-benzimidazole or its salt. The crystal preferably has a powder X-ray diffraction pattern in which characteristic peaks appear at interplanar spacings (d) of 11.68, 6.78, 5.85, 5.73, 4.43, 4.09, 3.94, 3.90, 3.69, 3.41, and 3.11 angstrom. The crystal may be a hydrate, preferably a 1.5 hydrate. The crystal is added to a medicine composition in an amount of 0.01 to 100 wt.% based on the total weight of the composition. The crystal is preferably orally administered as an antiulcer agent at a daily dose of 5 to 150 mg for an adult with one, two or three portions a day.
