<p>The present invention relates to erythropoetin analogs, to methods for the preparation of such analogs, and to pharmaceutical compositions comprising such analogs. There is provided an analog of human erythropoetin having one or more changes in the amino acid sequence of human erythropoetin as shown in Figure 5, which change(s) introduce at least one additional polypeptide site for glycosylation, wherein a carbohydrate chain is attached to the additional site, DNA sequence encoding such analogs, a eucaryotic host cell transfected with such DNA sequences, and pharmaceutically acceptable compositions comprising erythropoetin analogs. The invention also comprises analogs of human erythropoetin having a greater number of sites for carbohydrate chain attachment than human erythropoetin, such as [Asn69]EPO, [Thr125]EPO, [Pro124,Thr125]EPO, [Asn69,Thr71]EPO and [Ser68,Asn69,Thr71]EPO.</p> |
