PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply producing a 3,5-pyrazolidinedione compound in a high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the 3, 5-pyrazolidinedione compound of the general formula (III) (R1 and R2 are each independently a substituent) comprises reacting a disubstituted hydrazine compound of the general formula (I) with a malonic acid diester compound of the general formula (II) (R3 and R4 are each independently a substituent) in the presence of an acid catalyst.
