The method of operating an air conditioner involves pre-selecting an operating temperature and dividing the temperature into fixed predetermined ranges. In an auto-control stage, the interior temperature and air flow is controlled and the left and right and upper and lower louvres in the predetermined ranges. An automatic temperature increase stage involves verifying the functioning time of the air conditioner as a function of the selected internal temperature.
