PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure the temperature of a high-temperature molten metal at a low cost. SOLUTION: The tip section of an optical fiber 11 is inserted into a molten metal as a temperature measuring element together with a metal pipe 12 covering the optical fiber 11. The light emitted from the optical fiber 11 set to the same temperature as that of the molten metal and depending on temperature only is guided to a radiation thermometer 3 through the optical fiber 1l, and the temperature of the molten metal is detected. The metal pipe 12 and the optical fiber 11 are wound up and lifted from the molten metal after temperature measurement, the tip section of the optical fiber 11 is cut off to form a new tip section, the new tip section is used for the temperature measurement of the molten metal, and the temperature of the molten metal can be repeatedly measured with one optical fiber 11. |
