PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a spread spectrum receiver to be immune to multi-path fading. SOLUTION: A spread spectrum transmitter 1 applies spread spectrum processing to a transmission signal and applies double side wave band modulation to the result of spread spectrum processing and transmits the result to a spread spectrum receiver 11. The spread spectrum receiver 11 is provided with a 1st band pass filter 16a that can pass a frequency band corresponding to a lower side band signal caused by double side wave band modulation and with a 2nd band pass filter 16b that can pass a frequency band corresponding to an upper side wave band signal. Then the spread spectrum receiver 11 selectively extracts a signal offering a better reception characteristic (higher correlation value) in the upper side wave band signal and the lower side wave band signal.
