<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously variable transmission capable of preventing securely and by a best way the slip of a transmission belt and having a properly improved efficiency, and to provide an automobile equipped with such a continuously variable transmission and having a reduced fuel consumption and an enhanced driving comfort. SOLUTION: This continuously variable transmission 1 consists of an endless transmission 14 consisting of two sets of adjusting wheels for transmitting a driving torque and a belt disposed between the two sets of adjusting wheels, a clamping force device 13-1, 13-2 connected to the endless transmission 14 so as to apply the clamping force, a control device 15 connected to the clamping force device 13-1, 13-2 so as to affect the driving torque by controlling the clamping force applied to the endless transmission 14, and a clutch 16 connected to the control device 15. The control device 15 controls a clamping force by processing the measured value of a sensor installed in a shaft by a microprocessor so that the clutch 16 can continuously slip. When the continuously variable transmission 1 is installed in an automobile, 3 to 4% of fuel consumption reduction is possible by keeping a slip at around 5 rpm.</p> |
