An air aspiration system includes a pump (3) provided with a check valve (5). The check valve can extract air from an upper zone (2) while preventing entry of air or water through the upper portion (2c) of the upper zone. A small grating (4), installed in the inner portion (2b) of the upper zone, prevents access of fish to possible air bubbles inside the upper zone. An Independent claim is also included for a fish tank filling method.
