IMAGE PROCESSING UNIT AND METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit and its method by which a video object can reproduced accurately be, even in the occurrence of an error at transmission of a shape code. SOLUTION: Selectors 106, 109 in this image processing unit discriminate whether a target macro block resides in a rectangular area and whether the target macro block is a specified macro block existing at the outside of an optionally shaped area in the inside of the rectangular area on the basis of shape information. When the target macro block is a specific macro block, a specific marker code generated by marker generators 107, 108 is outputted in place of decoded texture data.
