PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for laminating substrates which can easily respond to the production of laminated substrates having various kinds and various types of dimensions and to provide a production method of a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: A pair of masks 1, 2 prepared by forming recesses 1a, 2a in the center part of plates are disposed on an upper stage 5 and a lower stage 6 in such a manner that the recesses 1a, 2a face a CF substrate 3 and a TFT substrate 4, respectively. Then the CF substrate 3 and the TFT substrate 4 are stacked so that the CF substrate 3 and the TFT substrate 4 are interposed and laminated between the masks 1, 2. Thereby, not only the CF substrate 3 and the TFT substrate 4 are protected on both sides by the recesses 1a, 2a, but the dimension of the region in the CF substrate 3 and TFT substrate 4 protected by the recesses 1a, 2a can be easily varied by exchanging the masks 1, 2.
