A diaper has a releasable mechanical closure system with male and female parts integral with front and rear parts of the diaper. The male part may be a strip with pin(s). The female part may be a strip with hole(s) for the pin(s). The hole(s) are formed in a first band pivotally attached to a part fixed onto the a front or rear part of the diaper. Alternatively the male part is a strip with teeth engaging the inside of a hollow body. Alternatively the male part is a fork with sprung tines that fit inside a hollow body.
