UPDATING METHOD FOR REGISTER INFORMATION IN DIGITAL MAP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an updating method for register information on a digital map which method can be mechanically processed. SOLUTION: When updating an old map of a digital map into a new one, coordinates sequence data for indicating a road shape around a register point on the old map are acquired from a data base of the old map (a step 1), a position relation between a reference point included in this road shape and a register point is obtained (a step 2), shape matching is performed on the new map by using these coordinates sequence data and the road shape on the new map corresponding to this road shape is obtained (a step 3), a reference point on the new map corresponding to the reference point is obtained from the obtained road shape and the register point is specified on the new map on the basis of the position relation to the reference point on this new map (a step 4) in an updating method of register information for reregistering information which is registered on the old map on the new map. It becomes possible to mechanically specify the register point on the new map without man's judgment.
